REPRESENTATIVE, TARGET GROUP ORIENTATED AND UP TO DATE  - "eleven/18 - The Youth Survey" by the Institute for Youth Culture Research. The basic survey is hundred percent self-financed. The data (charts and figures in German) can be obtained at the Institute for Youth Culture Research:


BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE SURVEY

  • Standardized interview: face to face
  • Quota of sampling: n=800, representative for 11 - 18 year olds in Austria (quota on age, sex, education, topography)
  • Questionnaire: 12 questions - 9 closed, 3 opened
  • Period of questioning: October - November 2006

FOCUS 2007

  • Relations of generations: How do think Austrian youngsters about their parent?s generation? How is life experience evaluated - is it possible that not only young people learn from the older but also vice versa?
  • Leisure time: Are 11 - 18 year old Austrians content with their leisure time facilities? Is there a necessity for improvement?
  • Youth culture: How important are youth culture scenes in the daily life of adolescents? What are the most popular trends in music?
  • Communication trends: How many young people use community platforms like ?myspace?? How many of them do have their own blog? How many would want to work as a reporter/for an e-magazine or an e-paper, if they would have the possibilities to do so?
  • Scepticism towards institutions: Which NGOs seem congenial to 11 - 18 year olds? Which organisations and associations have a negative image? How do young people see political parties?
  • Multicultural societies: Do young Austrians have prejudices against young Turkish-Austrians? From the viewpoint of youth, what are the core reasons for difficulties in understanding and what are barriers for integration?
