Research
The Institute for Youth Culture Research, founded in the year 2000 in Vienna, is specialised on applied youth research. We follow a life-world approach based on the theoretical work of Alfred Schütz and Peter Luckmann.
In combinining quantitative, statistical and qualitative, interpretative methods we perform high level applied youth research. Our research leads to broader knowledge and understanding of young people.
We are specialised on
- standardised youth surveys: face-to-face as well as net-based resp. online
- qualitative social research: semi-structured qualitative interviews, focus groups and group discussions, expert-interviews, participative observation, ethnographic research (ethnography proper as well as accumulated ethnographic miniatures)
- evaluation studies
- content and context analysis: quantitative and qualitative
- desk researches and expertises concerning youth-related topics as well as contemporary youth cultural phenomenons
- multi-method- resp. mixed-method-designs
- empirical founded typologies as a tool for target group segmentation and strategy planning in youth policy and youth work
